Commercial Banking

The main goal of this course is to introduce the students to the theory and practice of commercial banks, their specialties and meaning for the economy. In the beginning this course will cover the economic and financial environment and the adjustment of the banking industry on the changes, In addition the main factors of bank success will be treated (capital adequacy, asset quality, management, liquidity, and market risk sensitivity).

A special attention will be placed upon the risks these banks face. In addition the models of valuing the performances of banks will be presented, the traditional and alternative models. Besides, the course will deal with specific analysis of financial reports of the commercial banks.
